METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR EXPRESSION OF HUMAN PLASMINOGEN IN A EUKARYOTIC CELL SYSTEM

Recombinant human plasminogen may be produced in invertebrate cells or in other eukaryotic cells lacking a site-specific plasminogen activator by expression of a vector including a gene encoding human plasminogen. Human plasminogen may thus be expressed without degradation by plasmin produced by int...

Summary:Recombinant human plasminogen may be produced in invertebrate cells or in other eukaryotic cells lacking a site-specific plasminogen activator by expression of a vector including a gene encoding human plasminogen. Human plasminogen may thus be expressed without degradation by plasmin produced by intracellular plasminogen activators found in mammalian cells. The plasminogen product of such expression may be purified, acylated, complexed with acylated or non-acylated fibrinolytic enzymes and formulated into pharmaceutical compositions for use in thrombolytic therapy.
