Summary:The assembly to cool rolled strip material in a rolling train, with at least two beams to spray across the direction of strip travel behind each other, has a sliding movement for the spray beams (26,27) across the line (20) of strip travel. Each beam has a sliding drive (12,12') with adjustable and preset sliding positions. Pref. the spray beams (26,27) slide in the same or opposite directions. Several spray beams (26,27) are assembled into groups (4,5) with a drive (12,12') for each group. The groups (4,5) of spray beams (26,27) are interlinked so that the beams in each of two groups alternate with each other. The spray tubes at one side of the spray beam have the same dia. and the same intervals, the same dia. but at unequal intervals, or different diameters at the same interval. The jet width at the outlet openings are constant or unequal. The side walls of the jet slits are adjustable to vary the jet gap width to the outlet opening. The sprays beams (26,27) are linked to the fixed supply channel (28) through valves (29) and tubes (30,31) which can take up the beam movements. The spray beams (26,27) are above and/or below the cooling roller conveyor (21). The plates to contain the spray extend over the edges of the roller conveyor (21), with drives to slide them against the direction (20) of strip movement, and the plates are rectangular with generally trapezoid recesses at least at the two long sides and across the roller conveyor (21), or the long sides can have a comb structure, and are above and/or below the roller conveyor (21). At least the shrouding plates above the roller conveyor (21) have vertical walls at their edges to form a trough, and they each have an outlet opening outside the roller conveyor (21) zone. A number of shrouding plates above the roller conveyor (21) are firmly bonded together by their ends matching the dimensions of the groups of spray beams (4,5), so that they move together from the sliding drive. At least three thermal senso.
