Summary:Means of connecting a pusher boat (3) and a barge (1) having a notch (2) in the stern portion for receiving the bow (4) of the pusher boat (3) include three axially movable connecting pins (12, 37), one mounted at the bow end of the pusher boat (3) for multi-step tooth-engagement with concavities (35) arranged vertically along the deepest point of the notch (2), and the other two mounted on both sides of the pusher boat (3) for combined friction- and multi-step tooth engagement with concavities arranged vertically along the bottoms of vertical slots (5) in the side wall of the notch (2). Pressing shoes (23) slidably mounted on the side connecting pins (12) can be pressed into the slots (5) to realize simultaneous forced contact between forward and rearward faces of the pressing shoes (23) and their corresponding side walls of the slots (5). The pusher boat (3) and the barge (1) can be firmly connected to assure seaworthiness even in rough ocean waves.
