Summary:An automotive vehicle drum brake (7) comprising a brake drum (10) for connection to a vehicle wheel; a backing plate (12) for connection to the vehicle; at least one brake shoe (20,21) pivotally mounted on the backing plate and engageable with the brake drum; a non-rotative nut (44) mounted for linear motion with respect to the backing plate and having means (52,62,64) of pivotal connection with the brake shoe; a power screw (40) threadably engaged with the nut, the power screw being mounted on the backing plate; and an electric motor (74) drivingly connected with the power screw to turn the same to actuate the drum brake.
