Summary:Apparatus for bending and quenching glass sheets, comprising an oven (3), a station for bending by pressing, in which the glass sheet is picked up by a flexible belt (10). According to the invention, the bending tools consist of cold solid formers (6, 7) ensuring quenching by contact and the flexible belt consists of a weave or knit of refractory fibres whose heat resistance, measured perpendicularly to the plane of the belt, is between 0.25 10<-> and 5 10<->  m  K W<-> . The invention allows glass sheets less than 5 mm in thickness to be bent and quenched by contact.
