Summary: | Electrically conductive polymer compositions are prepared by oxidative polymerization of one or more aromatic compounds in the presence of a polymer b). Polymer b) has ammonium, phosphonium or sulfonium groups in the polymer chain(s) and comprises a polydentate anionic complex which has a redox potential sufficient for enabling oxidative polymerization of the aromatic compounds. Polymer b) is in the form of fine particles having an average size of 5 nm to 1 mm. Polymer b) may be prepared in situ. A polymer composition is obtained which contains the electrically conductive aromatic polymer and the reduced form of polymer b). The electrically conductive polymer composition has a particle size of 5 nm to 1 mm. Said polymer b) which has a non-metallic anionic complex such as S2O8 <-> is novel. |
