Summary:A flip-flop having a master section (74) including two switching transistors (40, 48) is provided with output loading transistors (76, 78) to drive the two transistors (40, 48) into saturation in the event of a metastable condition causing input is present. By driving the switching transistors (40, 48) into saturation they become inactive and background noise cannot cause propagation of the metastable condition to subsequent flip-flop stages.
