Summary:A compound element having a superconducting material core (1) and a metallic envelope (3) having a compound structure permitting penetration by a gas to be diffused into the core and comprising at least two regions made of different metals or alloys. These regions may be intermingled or disposed in concentric layers, and one of the regions (3a) forms a chemical barrier between the core and the other regions (3b) which ensure the mechanical stability of the assembly. Un élément composite comprend un coeur (1) en matériau supraconducteur et une enveloppe métallique (3) ayant une structure composite autorisant la pénétration d'un gaz à diffuser dans le coeur et comprenant au moins deux régions réalisées en des métaux ou alliages différents. Ces régions peuvent être entremêlées ou disposées en couches concentriques, l'une des régions (3a) forme une barrière chimique entre le coeur et les autres régions (3b) qui assurent la tenue mécanique de l'ensemble.
