Summary:Blood tests are made using a diagnostic stick (100) which has a testing chamber (102) at one end of the stick. The chamber has an open end (106) and is dimensioned so that blood can be drawn in to fill the chamber by capillary action. A testing surface (104) is either mounted in the chamber or is on a separate probe which can be immersed in blood in the chamber. The invention can be used with fluids other than blood.
