Summary:A humidity regulating apparatus that is used in, for example, a magnetic disk device, and that regulates the humidity inside a semi-sealed container 22 that possesses permeability with the outside air, and wherein an opening provided in the semi-sealed container is sealed by a humidity regulating element 27 comprising a hydrogen ion conductor 23 comprising a solid electrolyte and porous film-like electrodes 24, 25 bonded, respectively, to the surfaces of opposite sides of the hydrogen ion conductor. DC voltage is impressed across the electrodes to transport H<+> ions, and thus in effect moisture, from the interior to the exterior of the container.
