Summary: | A crystalline encilite catalyst composite for use in the conversion of alkanols to olefins, has the composition, on an oxide molar ratio basis: 1.0 +/- 0.3 M2O: Fe2O3: 30-300 SiO2: ZH2O where M is a monovalent cation and Z is an integer from 0 to 20, The catalyst composite is prepared by reacting, in an aqueous medium, iron, silicon, an alkali metal and, if desired, sulphuric acid with a tetraalkyl ammonium salt, heating the gel obtained, removing the supernatant liquid formed by such heating, recovering the solid residue, and washing, drying and calcining the latter. |
