Summary: | @ An electrically controlled pressure transducer valve (16) of compact, inexpensive construction comprises a valve seat (34) between a vent port (24) and an output port (20), a ferromagnetic valve member (30) supported adjacent said valve seat (34), said valve member (30) having an effective pressure area in communication with the output pressure port (20), and being subjected of a resultant differential pressure force, spring means (50) for urging said valve member (30) toward engagement with said valve seat (34), and electromagnetic actuator means (32) for exerting a controllably variable operating force on said valve member (30) and comprising a coil (60) coupled to a variable electrical power source (14), a core (62) within said coil (60), and a magnetic flux conductor (64) magnetically coupled to said core (62) extending closely about said coil (60) and defining an end section (84) disposed adjacent said valve member (30), said valve member (30) being disposed adjacent said end section (84) and adjacent an end of said core member (62) and defining a face spaced axially from said end section (84) and configured so that magnetic flux is directed through the space between said valve face and said end section (84) principally through said valve member face. |
