Summary:The invention relates to the use of 1-H-imidazol-1-ethanol and compounds of the formula in which R represents an organic acid residue which does not bear further carboxyl groups, either in the free or salt form, as sebum synthesis inhibitors. The invention also relates to parmaceutical preparations comprising a compound of formula I, and their preparation and to the compounds of formula I in which R is as defined above except the acetic acid residue, and their preparation.
