A petroleum distillate boiling at from 120 to 400 C which contains from 0.005 to 0.5% by weight of an ethylene/vinyl propionate copolymer having a molecular weight of from 1000 to 3000 and containing from 5 to 29% by weight, based on the copolymer, of vinyl propionate, said copolymer having been prepared by high-pressure polymerization, without the addition of solvent, at a temperature of from 100 to 350 C under a pressure of from 500 to 3000 bar.
