Summary:The disclosure of this application is directed to the production of silane modified copolymers of alkylene-alkyl acrylates by reacting a mixture containing a polysiloxane and a copolymer of alkylene-alkyl acrylate to produce a water-curable, silane modified copolymer. The polysiloxanes have the repeating unit: wherein R is a hydrocarbon radical, each V is hydrogen, a hydrocarbon radical or a hydrolyzable group and Z is a hydrolyzable group, n is an integer having a value of 1 to 18 inclusive, Z is a hydrolyzable group, and x is an integer having a value of at least 2. The silane modified copolymers can be extruded about electrical conductors, e.g. wires and cables, to provide insulation thereon characterized by improved surface characteristics.
