PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 1-ALKYL-1-PHENYL HYDRAZINES

1. A process for the preparation of a 1-alkyl-1-phenyl-hydrazine of the formula I see diagramm : EP0034285,P5,F1 in which X is hydrogen or a non-reactive substituent, and R is alkyl or alkenyl having from 1 to 15 carbon atoms, where a CH2 or CH group can be replaced by an oxygen atom, the oxygen fun...

Summary:1. A process for the preparation of a 1-alkyl-1-phenyl-hydrazine of the formula I see diagramm : EP0034285,P5,F1 in which X is hydrogen or a non-reactive substituent, and R is alkyl or alkenyl having from 1 to 15 carbon atoms, where a CH2 or CH group can be replaced by an oxygen atom, the oxygen function being separated from the nitrogen of the phenylhydrazine by at least two carbon atoms, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl having from 3 to 7 carbon atoms, phenylalkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or cycloalkylalkyl having from 1 to 6 alkyl and from 3 to 7 cycloalkyl carbon atoms, by reacting a phenylhydrazine of the formula II see diagramm : EP0034285,P5,F2 with a strong base with an alkylating agent of the formula III R-Y in which Y is chlorine, bromine or iodine, alkyl- or arylsulfonyloxy, or, when R is lower alkyl, -O-SO2 -OR, in an organic liquid characterized in that one deprotonates with NaNH2 as strong base in an aprotic solvent selected from the group consisting of tetrahydrofurane, 1,2-dimethoxyethane, acetonitrile and/or dioxane.
