Vorrichtung zum Verdampfen von Aluminiumtrichlorid, die aus einem U-förmigen Trog (1) mit flachen Stirnwänden (2) besteht, bei welcher a) in dem Mittelpunkt der Rundung der Stirnfläche (2) eine parallel zu der waagerechten Längsachse des Troges ausgerichtete Welle (3) drehbar angeordnet ist, auf der ein Wendelrührer (5) mit zu gleichen Teilen gegenläufigen Gängen angeordnet ist, bei welchem b) an der Rundung parallel zu der waagerechten Längsachse des Troges (1) aussen oder in der Wand mindestens zwei Heizstäbe (6) über die ganze Länge des Troges (1) angeordnet sind und bei welchem c) an dem einen Ende an der tiefsten Stelle der Rundung eine Vorrichtung (8) für das Ablassen des Schmelzgutes angeordnet ist. Das mittels der erfindungsgemässen Vorrichtung verdampfte Aluminiumtrichlorid kann für die pyrogene Herstellung von Aluminiumoxid verwendet werden. There is provided an apparatus for the vaporization of aluminum trichloride which consists of a U-shaped trough having flat front surfaces in which (a) there is rotatably disposed at the midpoint of the curve of the front surfaces a shaft aligned parallel to the horizontal longitudinal axis of the trough on which shaft there is disposed a helical stirrer having equal but oppositely directed pitches, in which (b) there are disposed on the curve parallel to the horizontal longitudinal axis of the trough outside or in the wall at least two heating rods along the entire length of the trough and in which (c) there is disposed at one end at the lowest point of the curve a device for the discharge of the melted material. The aluminum trichloride vaporized by means of the apparatus of the invention can be used for the pyrogenic production of aluminum oxide.
