Summary:Novel processes and novel industrial unicellular micro- organism strains, in particular industrial Bacillus strains, are provided for the increased production of endogenous and exogenous polypeptides. Cloning vehicles which contain one or more copies of the gene which expresses the polypeptide of interest are introduced into a compatible host, the transformed host organisms are treated in order to form protoplasts and are then fused with protoplast acceptors which are prepared from industrial strains. This results in an efficient transfer of the vehicle which contains the genes of interest, such that the modified industrial strains which are obtained are efficient for producing the desired polypeptide product.
