Styrene oxide is prepared by reacting styrene and hydrogen peroxide in a heterogeneous system in the presence of a bis(tri-n-alkyltinoxy)molybdic acid and an amine represented by the following general formula: wherein R1, R2 and R3 each independently represent H, CH3, C2H5, C3H7, C4H9, or HOCH2CH2.
