Summary:Indole derivs. of formula (I), their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and prodrugs are new: R1 = thienyl, furyl or 2-thiazolyl; R2 = thienyl, furyl or 2-X-4-Y- phenyl; X = H, F, Cl, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C alkylthio, NO2 or CF3; Y = H, F or Cl; R3 and R4 = H, F, Cl, Br, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C alkylthio, NO2 or CF3. - Pref. R1 = thienyl or furyl (esp. 2- or 3-thienyl or 3-furyl); R2 = 2-X-4-Y-phenyl; and prodrugs are of formula (II) are also claimed. R5 = alkanoyl, cycloalkanoyl, phenylalkanoyl, chlorobenzoyl, methoxybenzyl, Ph, thenoyl, omega-alkoxycarbonyl alkanoyl, alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, 1-alkoxyalkyl, 1-alkoxycarbonyloxy alkyl, alkyl, alkylsulphonyl, methylphenylsulphonyl or dialkylphosphonate.
