Summary:A continuous hot-dip plating apparatus comprises a roll assembly (14, 15) having superior resistance to erosion caused by the hot melt (16) of the plating metal, as well as high resistance to wear of the sliding portions of roll shafts (18) and bearings (19) which are used in the hot melt (16) of the plating metal. A ceramics is mounted on the sliding portions of the metallic roll shafts (18) making sliding contact with the metallic bearings (19) and/or on the sliding surfaces of the metallic bearings (19) which slidingly contact the sliding portions of the metallic roll shafts (18). The material of the ceramics serving as a sliding member is selected taking into account the wettability to the hot melt (16) of the plating metal. At least one of each, the sliding portion of the metal roll shaft (18) and the sliding surface of the associated bearing (19) is provided with a ceramic material which exhibits a large wettability to the hot melt (16) of the plating metal.
