Summary:A device (1) for determining the fineness of mineral fibres adapted to supply the micron value, comprises a device (8) for measuring the fineness index provided with at least one first orifice (3) connected to a measuring cell (2) adapted to receive a sample consisting of a plurality of fibres and with a second orifice (6) connected to a device (5) measuring a differential pressure prevailing on either side of the sample. This differential pressure measuring device is connected to a fluid flow generator (10). The fineness index measuring device includes at least one volumetric flowmeter for the fluid passing through the cell. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method for measuring the fineness of mineral fibres using this device; (b) application of the measuring device for measuring the fineness index for insulation fibres.
