Summary:The fat-fixing preparation is made from the dried leaves of an edible and at least partly non-assimilable cactus, especially Opuntia Ficus Indica or Nopal, ground into a powder in which at least 70 wt.% of its particles are smaller than 100 micro m or 75 micro m in size. The powder particles are coated with a film of a gastro-resistant material that is soluble in the intestine. The cactus leaves are cut into pieces and drained in the open air prior to drying, which can also be carried out in the open air or in a static or dynamic drier at a temperature of 40-60 deg C. The powder particles are coated in a film with the aid of a solution containing cellulose acetophthalate or carboxymethyl-cellulose and a plastifier such as triacetine or polyethyleneglycol.
