Summary:The control method is intended for a motor vehicle engine (10). The engine is assigned to a fluid clutch device (20) with a clutch (28). The first step in the control method is to detect the engagement state of the clutch (28). In a next step (S225, S325), it is determined whether or not the vehicle is in a predetermined decelerated operating state. If it was determined that the clutch (28) is in the predetermined engagement state and it has been additionally determined that the vehicle is in the predetermined decelerated operating state, the output power of the engine (10) is increased in a following step (S234, S334). By means of this control method, it is possible to prevent the engine (10) from dying even if the clutch (28) is engaged at the time of a deceleration.
