High purity cyanuric acid prodn
Prodn. of cyanuric acid is by cooling an isocyanurate/ammonia gas mixt. from 300-480 deg.C down to 200-300 deg.C so that the isocyanuric acid trimerises to give a solid cyanuric acid deposit which is separated off while the non-converted gas mixt. is recycled or otherwise worked-up. Also claimed is...

Summary: | Prodn. of cyanuric acid is by cooling an isocyanurate/ammonia gas mixt. from 300-480 deg.C down to 200-300 deg.C so that the isocyanuric acid trimerises to give a solid cyanuric acid deposit which is separated off while the non-converted gas mixt. is recycled or otherwise worked-up. Also claimed is the integration of such a process into a urea decomposition. process for melamine mfr., the urea being converted in a vortex at 300-480 deg.C to give the starting isocyanuric acid/ammonia gas mixt., with the gas mixt. remaining unconverted after cooling and trimerisation/deposition being either (i) recycled, (ii) heated to 300-480 deg.C and worked up to give melamine or (iii) used as a starting material for other processes. |
