Summary: | The thick film electrode is mounted on a planar, electrically insulating substrate and consists of three layers applied by screen printing. The three layers are an electrically conducting contact layer, an expansion layer made of a silver compound, a hydrophilic silicate material and a polymer binding agent and a partial liquid blocking layer. The expansion layer contains a mixture of 60 to 80 per cent silver compound and 10 to 20 per cent silicate material. The silver compound can be a silver halogenoid. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in potentiometric and amperometric measurement cells, esp. for one-time chemical and biological sensors; electrochemical measurement of analyte concn. in solutions, pH value measurement. Eliminates some disadvantages of conventional electrodes, e.g. strong variations in properties with time. |
