Apparatus for driving a plurality of yarn feeders in a flat knitting machine, including a plurality of carriages (5) for adjusting forward and backward movement of needles stored in needle beds (3), a plurality of yarn guide rails (6) which are disposed above and longitudinally of respective needle beds (3), and a plurality of yarn feeders (8) which respectively feed yarns to said knitting needles by way of said yarn guide rails (6), comprising a plurality of yarn feeders (8) in the front and on the back of at least a single yarn guide rail (6), carrying means (11) which selects yarn feeders to run in association with each other, and lowering means (13) which lowers yarn feeding apertures (12) of the selected yarn feeders to a predetermined position close to tips of knitting needles, the carrying means and the lowering means being installed between said carriages and yarn feeders, and the carrying means comprising a carrying pin (17) capable of movement back and forth from carriages facing the selected yarn feeder and a coupling recess (14) enabling the carrying pin to be engaged with a portion of the yarn feeder facing said carriages, the lowering means causing a spring (19) to energize a feeder rod (8a) in an upward direction, and, when the carrying pin (17) runs in concert with the yarn feeder, the lowering means causing a tip of the feeder rod to lower itself in resistance against the upwardly force of the spring in association with a simultaneous run of the carrying pin with the yarn feeder.
