Summary:The position sensor includes a code panel (5) having a bar code track marking with which elements represent place dependent code patterns with different reflection properties, which are assigned unambiguously to a place on the code panel. The unit for guiding the beam contains a dispersive demultiplexer, for splitting up the light and forming the resulting spectrum in the direction of the bar code marking. A multiplexer (6) is provided for reading out, which is designed similarly to the demultiplexer and is optically connected by optic fibres (7) to the detector unit. The detector unit contains a spectral analyser (2) and an electronic evaluation unit, so that from the code panel can be read out corresp. to the code pattern. The partly discrete spectrum from the spectral analysis, is supplied as a respective digital colour code with a freely selectable bit number to the electronic evaluation unit. USE/ADVANTAGE - for air and space travel. With small engineering cost ensures high accuracy and high redundancy of position determination assurance.
