Summary: | A cpd. needle for warp knitting and esp. stitch bonding machines has an incline positioned near the needle point. The needle point itself is nearer to the centre line than the surface which guides the tongue. The incline makes an angle DELTA of between 3 to 10 degrees with the guide surface. An imaginary line drawn through the needle point parallel to the guide surface is only displaced by a very small distance. The incline can be straight or curved and need not necessarily intersect the circumference of the needle point tangentially. ADVANTAGE - The force required to penetrate the fabric is reduced because the effective angle presented by the needle point when in a deflected position is less than that of a conventional needle. Due to the forces imposed on the needle it always deflects and the needle angle BETA is increased by angle ALPHA to give an effective angle GAMMA. The needle according to the invention has an effective angle EPSILON. |
