Economical and efficient tritium sepn. - involves passing gas to molten electrodes to ionise molecules, wash tower for absorption and condensate prodn

Tritium is sepd from a gas stream by a process in which the gas, contg. O2, is passed to a reaction body (34) contg. molten electrodes (31,32) to produce energy-rich electrons which ionise the molecules in the stream. Stream passes to an appts (40) for absorption, with a wash tower (41) for absorbin...

Summary:Tritium is sepd from a gas stream by a process in which the gas, contg. O2, is passed to a reaction body (34) contg. molten electrodes (31,32) to produce energy-rich electrons which ionise the molecules in the stream. Stream passes to an appts (40) for absorption, with a wash tower (41) for absorbing tritium water with a perforated base (42) to produce small gas bubbles. Condensate is produced in a cooling system (44) and runs back into the tower while wash bottles (45,46) dry the gas stream. ADVANTAGE - Economical and efficient sepn. method.
