Summary:Support is provided to a wall when forming an opening therein by a lintel beam comprising opposed plates 1 clamped together on opposite sides of the wall by means of bolts 8. The bolts 8 are received in spigots 3 in turn inserted in sleeves 7 located in through-bores in the wall. The beam may be further strengthened by attaching further plates 11 to the plates 1. Lateral forces may be resisted by attaching channel section beams 20. The beam may be used when forming an arched opening.
