Summary:A sensor for detecting a number of revolutions of a rotary shaft is provided which comprises a ring magnet secured to the outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft, the number of revolutions of which is to be detected, a Hall IC arranged near the outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft, for detecting the magnetism of the ring magnet. The ring magnet has one circumferential half of the outer peripheral surface thereof magnetized to serve as the north pole and the other circumferential half of the outer peripheral surface thereof magnetized to serve as the south pole.
