Summary: | The crankshaft contains a drive mechanism (7, 16) by which the centre distance between the connecting rod big end and the journal (5) is adjustable while it is rotating. The drive is taken from one end (17) of the crankshaft to the components (1, 2) effecting the adjustment via components (6-9, 11-13) rotating with it, and which move in relation to it only when adjustment is taking place. Adjusting power is supplied to them from outside via a first drive mechanism (16, 20) actuated by the movement of components (22, 23) supported on the engine housing. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple adjustment of piston top-dead-centre position in engines, pumps or hydraulic motors. |
