Summary:There is described a retarding cloth (10) which is fixed by means of a fastening device to the bottom of a carrier projectile containing submunitions and which is stretched after the separation of the bottom from the carrier projectile and is provided for the braking and change of trajectory of the bottom in relation to the submunitions. To guarantee a reliable transmission of the torque from the carrier-projectile bottom to the retarding cloth (10), the retarding cloth (10) is connected by means of a central surface portion (14) to at least one plate element (12) forming the fastening device. The retarding cloth (10) is preferably adhesively bonded over a large area between two plate elements (12).
