Summary: | Heterocyclic spiro compounds of formula @ @C represents a piperidine ring of which the nitrogene atom may have substituent(s) selected from alkyl, alkanoyl and alkoxycarbonyl and/or may be connected to a ring carbon (other than the common carbon atom of the spiro structure) via an alkylene bridging group; X represents an oxygen of sulfur atom; Y represents a carbonyl group (- @-), a thiocarbonyl group (@@@), a group of the formula @CH-R , a group of the formula or a group of the formula wherein Alk is alkylene and Z and Z are the same or different and selected from oxygen and sulfur atoms; R , R and R are the same of different and selected from a hydrogen atom and alkyl R represents a hydrogen atom or alkyl, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, or alkanoyl group; R represents a halogen atom or a hydroxyl, mercapto, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkanoyloxy, or alkanoylthio group; and R and R are the same of different and selected from a hydrogen atom and alkyl groups. The above compounds act upon muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, thereby activating the acetylcholine nervous functions in the central nervous system. |
