Summary:The invention concerns a pressure sensor for the vehicle tyres, with a pressure switch (11) which monitors the quantity of gas in the tyre. The pressure switch (11) is attached to the rim (21) of the wheel and activated by the tyre pressure. It is part of an electrical circuit which is monitored by a vehicle-installed evaluation circuit. The pressure switch (11) has a reference-pressure chamber (12) which is closed off from the tyre interior by an electrically conducting membrane (13). When the tyre pressure is sufficiently high, the central zone of the membrane (13) presses against a switch contact (14) rigidly mounted in the reference-pressure chamber. The pressure switch (11) has a weight-piece (17) which increases the switch threshold as a function of the speed. To compensate for the increase in tyre pressure as the tempereature increases, the pressure switch (11) is mounted orientably by means of a temperature-sensitive correcting element (22) on the wheel rim so that the component (PZX) of the centrifugal force due to the weight-piece (17), acting in the direction of the axis (X) of the pressure switch, increases with rising temperature.
