Summary:Synthetic steroids which are used to promote the growth of cattle and elevate the efficiency of feed remain in the body for a long time after ingestion and may have a detrimental effect when such products are consumed by humans. The invention relates to a method for the production of bovine growth hormone which is used to promote the growth of cattle, to increase the secretion of milk in cows and to elevate the efficiency of feed using a synthetic gene in yeast or E.coli. It has been found that bovine growth hormone may be produced economically and in large quantity in yeast or E.coli using gene manipulation technology.
