Process for producing an assembly which has a cover of a vehicle roof and a seal extending around the cover, using a gauge determining the length and width of this assembly. A cover support, the seal, having a seal body and an inwardly directed attachment, and also the cover are placed in a mould in such a way that the seal comes to bear with its outer edge against an inner edge of the mould forming the gauge, the attachment protrudes between the cover support and the cover and there remain free between the outer edges of cover and cover support and inner wall parts of the seal body edge gaps which are in connection with one another via clearances through the attachment. Then, the mould is closed, and an elastomer compound filling the edge gaps and bonding cover, cover support and seal to one another is metered in (Fig. 1).
