Summary:Unsaturated monoesters of the formula (I) are prepared by reacting diesters of the formula (II) in which the radicals R to R in formulae (I) and (II) are identical to one another and represent hydrogen, straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl radicals having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl or cycloalkylene radicals having 5 to 8 carbon atoms, aryl, alkylaryl or aralkyl radicals, with elimination of carboxylic acids R COOH, in which R represents hydrogen or an alkyl radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, in the presence of zeolites and/or phosphates as catalysts. n is an integer from 1 to 10.
