Summary:A method of pattern preparation for a coloured pattern textile comprises image detection by way of a video camera 12 and further processing of the image by way of a computer system with inclusion of a monitor 17 for visual checking. A colour classification store 14 is connected upstream of an image repetition store 2 and this is followed by a further store 15 for each colour coding and the intensity value thereof. Control takes place by way of a logic circuit arrangement and a microprocessor 1. Storage in the image repetition store 2 takes place according to an association which is fixed by the content of the colour classification store 14, this association being calculated, before the image detection, by the microprocessor 1 from intensity values fixed for each colour coding in the intensity value store 15. Store 14 converts 9-bit colour signals into 4-bit colour-code signals using operator adjustable memory look-up tables and successive groups of four of these 4-bit signals are combined into 16-bit signals for storage in store 2 at a slow clock rate. Upon read-out from store 2 the 16-bit signals are separated into four 4-bit signals in shift registers 24 and fed to intensity value store 15 which is divided into three colour channels for monitor 17.
