Summary: | The invention relates to a process for hydrogenating conversion of heavy oils and residual oils (residuals, mazut, masut), used and waste oils, tar sands and the like by catalysed reaction with hydrogen at a hydrogen partial pressure between 50 and 300 bars, a temperature between 250 and 500@C, a throughput of from 0.1 to 5 t/m an hour, and a gas/liquid ratio between 100 and 10000 Nn /t. The technical object and purpose of the invention is to provide a process for processing (reprocessing) heavy oils and residual oils, in which excessive foaming is avoided and the reaction volume of the hydrogenation reactors is utilised more effectively. The technical object is achieved by adding, during the hydrogenating treatment of the starting materials, an additive in two different particle size ranges, in such a way that part of the additive is present as a fines fraction having a particle size of 90 mu m or less, and another part as a coarse fraction having a particle size of from 100 mu m to 1000 mu m. |
