Summary:The invention relates to a process and a circuit arrangement for determining gas proportions in steam and for controlling an optimum combustion process by precise metering of the combustion air volume. The aim is, in the combustion of H2S to form sulphur, to maximise the sulphur yield, to avoid costs for post-scrubbing plants and to reduce the emission of H2S and SO2. The object is to provide a process and a circuit arrangement which determines the H2S content in the feed gas, meters the combustion air volume corresponding to the feed gas volume and compensates for disturbances in the combustion process. According to the invention, the signals from pressure and temperature measurement points in the lines for the feed gas and combustion air are connected via computing modules for constant determination of the set-point value of the combustion air volume and thus for precise metering of the combustion air in the main combustion-air line. Disturbances in the combustion process are compensated for via a control valve in the parallel air line. The invention can preferably be used in sulphur reclamation plants.
