Summary:The invention relates to a variable illumination device for an electrical installation apparatus, in the case of which device the illumination is arranged in a carrier element having contact pins, which carrier element can be inserted into an installation apparatus as a separate part. According to the object of the invention, an illumination device which is designed in such a manner is intended to be developed such that it also illuminates decentralised light outlet openings in an operating element in an optimum manner when arranged centrally in an installation apparatus. The invention provides a lamp holder for this purpose, which lamp holder rests in a carrier element such that it can rotate through 180@ and which carrier element can be used as a separate part in the base of an installation apparatus.
