Summary: | The invention relates to a unit for the turbidimetric measurement and control of microorganisms such as cell, bacterial, yeast and/or algal cultures in aqueous medium using a measuring cell based on the principle of a flow measuring cell. The object set by the invention consists in offering a unit with which control of chemostat cultures which is continuous, automatic and independent of changes in the external conditions and moreover also sensitive measurement and recording, independently of changes due to microorganism growth, is made possible. The solution is characterised in that the measuring cell has an elongate channel, at the ends of which are arranged optical components sealing off the channel, by means of which a measuring beam is directed along the axis of the channel from a light source to a detector, and in that both the supply and the drainage of the medium to or from the channel are directed at an angle to the axis of the channel such that the medium continuously flows around the surface of the optical components. |
