Summary:An essentially optically clear liquid detergent composition contains (i) 5 to 95 % by weight of a surface-active agent, relative to the total weight of the detergent composition, and (ii) 5 to 70 % by weight of an essentially water-insoluble scouring agent, relative to the total weight of the detergent composition. The refractive index of the scouring agent is essentially the same as that of the liquid phase of the detergent composition which contains the surface-active agent.
