Summary:The merry-go-round possesses a plurality of passenger cars 18 which are suspended from flexurally stiff car arms 17. The car arms are pivotable relative to a merry-go-round crown formed by booms 15, tensioning struts 14 and transverse struts 16. By means of power units 21 to be triggered individually by the passenger, each car 18 can be swung out beyond the position determined by the centrifugal force. Short pivot levers 19 pointing outwards and downwards at an acute angle to the car arms 17 are attached to the car arms 17, their free ends being connected via a flexible tension member 20 to the assigned power unit. In the lower position of rest of the cars, the tension member is therefore folded on the transverse struts 16. The radius of roll on the tension strut is selected, in combination with the length and the angle of the pivot lever, to be such that the free end of the pivot lever 19 emerges behind the radius of roll only at a predetermined outward-pivoting position of the cars, and the tension member is thus no longer folded at that time. From the lower position of rest of the cars to this position, the effective lever arm for applying a torque to swing the cars outwards is small and constant. From this point, the lever arm increases continuously to its maximum value, which is reached in a predetermined upper limit position 26 of the cars.
