Summary:To prevent the unauthorised use of a mobile unit in a radio telephone system, during the establishment of a connection between a mobile unit and a mobile switching centre, the subscriber number and the identifier of the mobile unit formed from the subscriber number according to a secret encoding rule are compared with each other and evaluated. To prevent interventions by third parties in the devices, such as return identifier receivers for example, arranged in the mobile unit, the comparison between the subscriber number formed from the identifier by application of the inverse encoding rule and the subscriber number stored in the station identification device is transferred from the mobile unit to the mobile switching centre. If the subscriber number obtained in this way matches the stored subscriber number, connection establishment is continued, otherwise the connection establishment is aborted.
