Pantograph isolating switch

The contact pressure between the contact pieces (1, 2 and 7) of the switched-on pantograph isolating switch is applied by elastic pretensioning of the bars (3, 4, 5, 6, 31, 41, 51, 61) of the pantograph. Summary:The contact pressure between the contact pieces (1, 2 and 7) of the switched-on pantograph isolating switch is applied by elastic pretensioning of the bars (3, 4, 5, 6, 31, 41, 51, 61) of the pantograph. The bars are supported in this position in the drive housing (8) by a locking mechanism. The column (11) is in this case not stressed. A delayed-action coupling (14) is installed between the drive (12) and the locking mechanism. At the start of a switching-off movement, the drive shaft (13) initially rotates in a freewheeling manner and its stops (15) then strike against the coupling tube (16) connected to the column (11), releasing the locking mechanism of the pantograph in the drive housing (8). The energy stored in the pantograph by elastic pretensioning is now suddenly released and moves the two moving contact pieces (1, 2) at high speed away from the fixed contact piece (7) until the extinguishing distance is reached. Thereafter, the pantograph assumes the speed provided by the drive (12). As a result of the rapid relative movement between the contact pieces (1, 2, 7) at the start of a switching-off movement, short arc times can be achieved, as a result of which the contact pieces (1, 2, 7) are prevented from fusing together, and the production of overvoltages is prevented.
