In the case of a process for producing coated mouldings from plastic, in particular for motor vehicles, in which a mould is provided with a release agent, the liquid, plastic or free-flowing polymer is introduced into the mould, the solidified moulding is removed from the mould, freed of the release agent attaching to it by cleaning and subsequently coated, it is envisaged for the purpose of making release agents visible to use a release agent to which luminescent substances have been added and to check the mouldings before coating for any residues of release agent by means of applying radiation inducing the luminescence.
