Summary:A call metering and display device for telephone sets contains an electronic counting circuit which is powered by a battery and has display elements and a starting switch. These parts are provided in a housing, the dimensions of which are adapted to the size of the base area of a telephone set. The starting switch (7) interacts with a spring arrangement, the spring action of which is opposed to the gravitational force of the housing and of the telephone set and the size of which is chosen such that, when the receiver is lifted, the housing (1) is raised and the starting switch (7) is automatically closed. Upon opening or upon subsequent closing of the starting switch, the counting circuit is reset to the initial state.
